How is Cryptozoology and the bible related? Cryptozoology is the study of unknown or rare creatures. First of all, all creatures were made by God, regardless if they are from earth, heaven, hell, another dimension, or another planet.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made: without Him nothing was made that has been made.In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but darkness has not understood it. John 1:1-5
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize Him. Verse 10 then 14 states: The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The above scriptures refer to all things being created by the Word, and then the Word became flesh. This is, of course, referring to Jesus Christ. Not only did he create us, he also made the way for us to spend an eternity in heaven by dying on the cross. So how is this related to cryptozoology?
The Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, The Jersey Devil, Chupacabra, and many others are fascinating studies and make for very interesting reading and sometimes chill the bone. But remember, no matter where they come from, Jesus still created them or their original forms. These could be creatures from another dimension, another planet, never before discovered, mutations, or the result of cross breeding. If they are really creatures at all and not just legends and myths.
One astute reader has observed that these creatures must have been on Noah's Ark or they wouldn't be around today. He suggested that they came in after dark and that's why they are not in any of the pictures. :)
Man has cross bred dogs to get new breeds like the doberman pinscher or german shepherd. But although these are different types of dogs, they are still dogs. The point being is that these animals or creatures which fire up our imaginations and get us excited are not necessarily a new species. They could be the result of cross breeding.
What most people don't understand is that Jesus is God. God is a triune being which made man in His image. Note the word "our" and "us" in this passage. Then God said, "Let us make man in ourimage, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. Genesis 1:26
Why is God referring to Himself in the plural? Because he is a triune being consisting of three parts. God is the soul of the Godhead. Jesus is the body of the Godhead. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of the Godhead. God made man in His image. Man consists of body, soul, and spirit. The mortal man's body decays and rots until death when the spirit and soul depart. After Jesus rose from the grave, he had to leave earth so he could send the Holy Spirit. What does this mean? It meant that he was unable to send the Spirit until he was reunited with His soul, God. Body, soul, and spirit are connected in ways that we don't yet understand.
My thoughts on Cryptozoology and The Bible
God is an infinite being. This means that the universe is infinite, that lifeforms are infinite, and our voyage of discovery will be infinite. Just look at your backyard. There is an infinite amount of lifeforms right there. You have the various forms of birds feeding off the worms and the wide variety of insects crawling around back there. There is grass growing among several kinds of vegetation. Then there are dogs, cats, rabbits, squirrels, snakes, rats, moles, mice, and possibly even deer. Your backyard is teeming with life and we hardly notice it.
If our backyard is so full of a variety of creatures and lifeforms, then imagine what the whole planet earth contains. I think it would be a safe bet that we will discover even more hitherto unknown life forms in the future. The study of cryptozoology is exciting. In some ways it actually gets us closer to God, because we are inspired by a new sighting of the Loch Ness "monster", excited by a new photograph of Bigfoot, or chilled to the bone by stories of The Jersey Devil and Chupacabra. Cryptozoology is a subject that will never cease to fascinate us.
