-------Sodom and Gomorrah------

The book of Jude gives us 6 examples of the spiritual conditions that will exist on planet Earth that will bring on the judgements of God in the book of Revelation. We have already explored apostate Christianity and mankind uniting with evil spirits.

The third example is the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah. Jude tells us in verse 7 "as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

What did Jude tell us about the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah that caused them to "suffer the vengeance of eternal fire"? Sexual immorality and going after strange flesh was his answer.

This verse alludes to verse 6 of this chapter which has the fallen angels leaving their abode for sexual purposes that they were not created to do. They corrupted mankind through sexual immorality. All perverse sexual acts have demonic influence as their cause. Last issue we talked about how mankind was uniting with evil or demonic spirits in today's world that is on a level not seen since Noah's flood. The natural result of this union is unnatural sex acts that men were not born to do on a very large scale.

What are the issues facing the church today? One is whether or not a homosexual person should be allowed to become a pastor. This is like asking a fox to guard the hen house. Allowing people who are under the influence of demonic spirits (as homosexuals are) to pastor a church is insane. It gets even more bizarre. The Methodist church now faces the issue of whether or not someone who changed their sex from man to woman or woman to man can be a pastor.

Man mating with a woman to produce babies is a "natural act". Even if the union takes place out of wedlock there is no great brouhaha about it because people just think they couldn't contain their lust for each other. It was just a "natural thing". If man engaging sex with a man was a "natural act", no one would think twice about it. There would be no controversy.

Romans 1 verse 26 and 27 state, "For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due."

Because mankind has united with evil spirits, our governments are trying to pass laws that oppose God's word. Preachers put themselves in great physical peril if they speak out against the sin of homosexuality. Governments will impose stiff penalties and fines on them. You are accused of being intolerant and hateful if you say anything negative about the homosexual lifestyle.

There are those who fear God's judgment on us because the nations are trying to accept the alternative lifestyle as just a natural part of life. What this really means is that the nation is under the control of Satan and his demonic forces.

What is the side effect on a nation who gives themselves over to unnatural lusts? Why did God destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? When the angels came and visited Lot, some of the Sodomites wanted to have sex with them. This was a very selfish and inhospitable attitude which was very contrary to the law of the nomadic ways of that land. You were expected to give strangers food to eat, water to drink, and a place to rest so they could continue their journey. You were not expected to give them over to sexual deviants who wanted to have their way with them. Lot offered to give his two daughters to the Sodomite men instead because the offense of assaulting strangers was so great.

How would you feel if people of your home town demanded you let them have your house-guests so they could be sexually assaulted? You would be horrified. You would know that the wickedness of your town was great.

The world is moving in that direction today. First comes the union of man with demonic spirits. Second comes the sexual perversions. And, Third, the nation will become more and more selfish and inhospitable finally bringing it down to destruction.

It wasn't that long ago that a homosexual was terrified to reveal his sin to the world. Now they practice it openly without fear or shame. Isaiah 3:9 states, "The look of their countenance witnesses against them, And they declare their sin as Sodom; They do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves."

In Genesis 19:4 all the men of Sodom surrounded Lot's house. In verse 7 Lot protested, "Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly!" In verse 9 they told Lot to stand back as they were going to break the door down, and in verse 11, the angels of God struck them with blindness.

Norbet Leith writes, "Three things took place here: 1. Lot's protest was strongly rejected. (Try to protest the sin of homosexuality in today's world and see if isn't strongly rejected) 2. Lot himself became an accused person who did belong in their society. (The implication is that if you are not a practicing homosexual then society will reject you.) 3. They attempted to enter his house with increased force. (Our governments are trying to force this issue down our throat no matter how hard we try to keep them out)."

What was the result for the Sodomites? They were blinded just as practicing homosexuals have been blinded to the things of God. The world itself is in spiritual darkness. Only the righteous of God will be led out before God sends His judgments upon a spiritually wicked planet.

Can the societies of our world be compared with Sodom and Gomorrah?

Christian Horizons, a Canadian ministry, was fined $23,000 in a gay discrimination case. Connie Heintz had signed a "morality agreement" with the company which stated that she would not engage in immoral behavior then she entered into a homosexual relationship and was pressured to quit the job. She sued Christian Horizons and won the case. The world ruled in favor of the homosexual. Boston's Children Hospital has a doctor who has launched a program that will allow children to take a drug that will delay puberty. For what purpose? There are many more examples showing the growing acceptance of "alternative lifestyles" in our world while there is a growing hatred toward anyone who speaks out against this trend. Sodom and Gomorrah were completely destroyed because of their rampant homosexuality. God hasn't changed. The gay world will suffer God's wrath unless they turn from their sin and turn to Christ to rescue them from their own debased minds and bodies.
