The 2017 American Eclipse

On August 21st, 2017 a total solar eclipse occurred over the country called the United States of America. Not all of the states got to see a total eclipse, but the lower 48 got to see at least a partial eclipse. I live in the state of Tennessee and I did get to experience total darkness in the middle of the afternoon.

It is my understanding this eclipse could only be seen from the United States and nowhere else. I watched several YouTube videos that proclaimed that since this eclipse could only be viewed in my country, that it was a sign from God that judgment was coming upon this country.

Is this Biblical? Is the United States so wicked, that judgment will befall this country?

Is an eclipse of the sun a sign of Biblical judgment? It could be. The word “eclipse” is not found in the Bible. However, when Jesus was speaking about His return, He said, “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;” Luke 21:25

When Jesus does come back, the world will be judged and many of the disasters that befall this planet mentioned in the book of Revelation are His judgments upon a world that has rejected Him.

It is interesting that the verse quoted above talks about the “the sea and the waves roaring”. Just 4 days after the eclipse, Hurricane Harvey struck Houston, Texas and dumped over 50 inches of rain on that city. That was a record rainfall for that area. This caused massive flooding causing many to lose their lives, but thankfully it was not near the number of lives lost as it could have been, since the city was forewarned about the hurricane.

However there was something really odd about Hurricane Harvey. It didn’t just make landfall and weaken to a tropical storm as it progressed inland. It moved in very slowly, then moved back out to sea, picked up more moisture, went back inland, went back out to sea, picked up more moisture and moved inland for a third time. This is not the typical behavior of a hurricane.

Since all of the countries of the world are pagan, why would God judge only the United States? The founders of this country were heavily involved with Freemasonry yet the laws of the land were based on principles directly taken out of the Bible. This country is spiritually linked to Israel because of this. God has blessed this country because of its spiritual ties to Israel. Yet, like the Israel of the Old Testament, we have rejected His laws and statutes and started doing our own thing.

There are many people in this country who really try to live a life that would be pleasing to God and there are a great many people in this country who are in total rebellion against God. They reject God so God backs away from them and allows the disasters to come.

The disasters are sent so the people will repent of their sins and turn back to God. If there is no repentance, then more disasters will follow.

The government of this country passes laws that are supported by its citizens. Of course there are many laws passed that are not supported by all citizens but the majority vote wins. When the government passes laws, that are supported by its citizens, that stand in direct opposition to what the word of God teaches, then God removes His blessings from that country.

Our government has passed and enforced laws in this country that can only lead to the inevitable collapse of this country. The only possible way to prevent that is to repent and turn back to God. Will that happen in the United States?

When I was outside experiencing the eclipse, I noticed that the shadows from the trees were growing larger but there was still light. Those who follow the teachings of God and try to follow His statutes and laws are the light of the world. The light bearers of this world have taken notice of the ever looming shadow of darkness growing larger.

When the totality of the eclipse occurred, there were no more shadows because darkness took over the land. This happened in an instant. This is what is prophesied to happen to this world just before Jesus returns to set up His kingdom on Earth. John 9:4 proclaims: "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work."

What laws has the government of the United States passed that signify an approaching darkness and the coming judgment upon that darkness?

Our government has banned prayer in our public schools and replaced the creation account with the fairy tale called evolution. 1st Thessalonians Chapter 5 admonishes us to: "16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing."

President Trump declared Sunday, Sept 3 to be a national day of prayer for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. He is to be commended for this as this country should never cease to pray. The victims of Hurricane Harvey certainly need prayer and our support.

After prayer was banned in our public schools, we saw a rise of violence in our schools including students killing both other students and teachers. I remember when I first heard about the shootings at the Columbine school. The nation was shocked. When this type of thing happens now, the nation has become numb to the news.

Our government made it legal to commit murder and called it abortion. Since the Roe vs Wade decision of 1973, over 58 million babies have been aborted according to the website liveaction.org. That is over 7 times the population of Houston, TX. This would be the same result as 7 major cities being destroyed by a nuclear bomb.

The Bible has several references to the shedding of innocent blood but the one reference that would most apply to our country is from Deuteronomy 19:10, “That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.”

This is crystal clear. If we shed innocent blood, then that blood will be upon us. Looking at the eclipse in light of this verse, it could very well be a bad omen for this country.

The murder of 58 million innocents invites judgment.

Our government removed the sodomy laws and legalized same sex marriage. Leviticus 18:22 is clear: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." Romans 1 also addresses this: "27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;"

What this country needs to know that when God allows a country to become sexually perverse, it is a judgment from God. It is the final warning before the country is no more.

We have banned prayer, made it legal to kill babies, and made same sex marriage legal. All of these things stand in direct opposition to what the word of God teaches. This shows that the government of this country is in rebellion against God. Does the 2017 great American eclipse signify that judgment is coming upon this nation? It may or may not be relevant but the Bible does teach that judgment will come upon the whole world because the whole world will be in rebellion against God’s word. The light of the world are those who are not in rebellion against God’s word and one day God is going to remove that light when He calls His church home. When that happens, the whole world will suddenly be plunged into spiritual darkness just as the eclipse plunged the United States into physical darkness. This time the darkness will last much longer than 2 minutes.
