2011 - How Does it Relate to Bible Prophecy?

During this past year, I watched the news in amazement as things that have been prophesied in the Bible for over two thousand years were starting to take shape before our very eyes. Any good Bible student recognizes that world events seem to be unfolding Biblical prophecy at an almost breakneck speed. Let's examine some of those prophecies and the world events connected to them.

Prophecy 1 - "25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring ; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken ." Luke Chapter 21

Scientist have shown ocean currents directly affect the weather so "the sea and the waves roaring" could be interpreted as very bad weather or events connected to the ocean and its currents. "Men's hearts failing them for fear" indicates mankind wondering what calamity known as a natural disaster will happen next.

The deadliest natural disaster was the Japan earthquake. The earthquake alone would not have been so bad if that same earthquake had not triggered a tsunami. The deadly combination killed 15,844 people and 3,451 are still missing. It also caused severe damage to several nuclear power facilities. This was the largest earthquake ever to hit Japan and one of the five largest ever recorded. Jesus did mention that there would "earthquakes in diverse places" but the tsunami refers to "the sea and waves roaring".

April 27th & 28th saw the worst tornado outbreak ever to hit the United States. 312 tornadoes touched down in those two days. The previous record was 148 set in 1974 on April 3rd and 4th of that year. I live in the south were those tornadoes hit. Five of them touched down in my county in one day. I was fortunate that neither my family nor my property was damaged by those storms but there were many victims who suffered some kind of loss on that day.

Massive flooding in the Midwestern states followed those storms due to the Mississippi and Missouri rivers overflowing. Right now, weather events seemed to have calmed somewhat which leads me to believe another major weather related disaster is just around the corner.

Prophecy 2 - "2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces , though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it." Zechariah Chapter 12

There is no doubt Jerusalem and the land of Israel has been at the center of world news recently. The world of Islam does not want peace with Israel. They want all the Jews destroyed. The president of Iran has repeatedly expressed his desire to "wipe Israel off the map". The prophecy states that any nation who burdens themselves with Jerusalem will "be cut into pieces". Why?

Jerusalem is God's city. He gave it to the Jews and no one else has a right to it. A careful study of Ezekiel Chapters 38 and 39 clearly shows Russia and a coalition of now Muslim nations attacking Israel and God Himself destroys the invading armies. President Obama is a Muslim sympathizer who keeps telling the prime minister of Israel to give up land for peace but Netanyahu knows that will never work so snubs Obama's insane requests much to Obama's frustration.

Jerusalem has indeed become a burdensome stone for all people - a people who should leave Jerusalem alone but will not.

Prophecy 3 - "16 And he causeth all, both small and great , rich and poor , free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand , or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell , save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." Revelation Chapter 13

There are two things that have to happen for this to happen. 1. A worldwide monetary collapse and 2. Total government control.

There are several powerhouse nations in the world that are on the verge of being bankrupt. The United States is now several trillion dollars in debt. This is an impossible debt to pay so it is not a question of whether the country will file for bankruptcy but when. Greece and some other European nations are in the same boat. Since we are already in a world economy, one nation's bankruptcy would affect the economies of all nations. This would make way for a new system to be employed as prophesied.

For this new monetary system to work, there has to be total control by worldwide centralized government. Thanks to advances in technology and the threat of terrorism, government already has much control of our lives. Cell phones are very popular and any cell phone can be tracked. Airport security now performs what was once called illegal searches in the name of deterring terrorism.

Prophecy 4 - "20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" Isaiah Chapter 5

The bible calls homosexuality an "abomination" yet there is a move in our so-called Christian churches to allow gay pastors and teachers. Anyone who opposes this idea is branded as a "hater". Homosexuality is now okay in the military and same sex marriages have become legal in many areas but that does not make it okay with God. God considers homosexuality to be a sin just like murder, adultery, and stealing.

We murder our babies by the millions and call it choice.

The New Age movement tries to claim there is no such thing as evil or a devil.

Quarterback Tim Tebow prays during football games and is harshly criticized by the media. An Islamic terrorist blows himself up on a bus or in a shopping mall the media blames it on Israel.

I've only briefed touched on the prophetic issues. This article was written in the hopes that you, the reader, sit up and take notice. The world as we know it is about to undergo major changes simply because Jesus is getting ready to take Earth back from Satan. We all have to choose whom we will serve. I have made my choice and so have you. The question is: whose side are you on?
